I love the Mission. Every street has it's own character, all the sights and smells are amazing. Murals appear in alleyways travelled by the hipsters. Great people watching. And some terrific stores. I found a Pirate shop that's a front for an educational writing workshop for kids at 826 Valencia. Yes, they really have pirate items - scurvy-be-gone, peg leg oil and designer eye patches to name a few.

Then I went next door and they had a wonderfully eccentric garden store full of fascinating items, and a cool little garden in the back - Paxton Gate.

And *then* I found work by artist Ceilia Marais work in an art gallery down the street - a bit mind-bending to say the least.

And then a scrumptious lunch at Tartine. A great day in the Mission...
